FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the difference between the DAIO™ Original and the DAIO PRO™?

The DAIO™ Original comes with our unique multi-option fixing bracket which allows you to move your DAIO around your home (or business) and mount it to a wide variety of horizontal and vertical surfaces.

Horizontal surfaces like a table top, dressing table, mantle piece, or shelf – and vertical surfaces like a drawer front, radiator and even some types of chair.

The maximum drawer or surface ‘thickness’ for the multi-option fixing bracket is 30mm.

The bracket may not be able to secure onto some surfaces with a beveled / sloping edge.

The DAIO PRO™ is the same as the DAIO™ Original, apart from it doesn’t have the multi-option fixing bracket. It is intended for anyone who will never need the flexibility to move it around their home and would prefer to fix it more permanently to a vertical surface. Such as a wall, or even the side of a piece of furniture.

To mount the DAIO PRO™ you would fix a couple of screws into your wall, or furniture, and then place the main black DAIO body over the screws and tighten until it is held firmly in place. To demonstrate this more fully we have created an installation guide video here

How does the DAIO PRO™ fit to surfaces around the home / business?

The DAIO PRO™ does not have the fixing bracket like the DAIO™ Original and so will need to be fixed directly to a vertical surface, like a wall or even the side of a piece of furniture. (It is intended for anyone who will never need the flexibility to move it around their home, or business)

To mount the DAIO PRO™, use the main black DAIO body as the template to mark the fixing positions. Fix a couple of screws into your wall, or maybe furniture, and then place the body over the screws and tighten until it is held securely in place. (Screws and wall plugs are not included).

How does the DAIO SOLO™ fit to surfaces around the home / business?

The DAIO SOLO™ is our single cup option and will need to be fixed directly to a vertical surface, such as a wall or even the side of a piece of furniture.

What are the dimensions / sizes of the different DAIO™ models & Cups?

The DAIO™ Original is 27cm across, 18.5cm from front to back and 15.5cm in height.

The DAIO PRO™ is 27cm across, 14cm from front to back and 15cm in height.

The DAIO SOLO™ is 10cm across, 11cm from front to back and 16cm in height

The DAIO™ Original and DAIO PRO™ models come with one Standard and one Large silicone cup.

The Standard Cup is designed to hold most types of hair straighteners, tongs & wands and is 15cm in height / length with an internal diameter of 5.5cm.

The Large Cup is designed to hold the wider straighteners and most hairdryers and is 15cm in height / length with an internal diameter of  8cm.

(The only appliance we know of that doesn’t fit in either Cup is the BaByliss Curl Secret. It will fit in handle first, but not hot plate first).

If you are purchasing either a DAIO™ Original or DAIO PRO™ model and need two larger cups because of the size of your hair appliances, then we can arrange a special order for you. Just let us know before you order and we will make sure it is done.

The DAIO SOLO™ comes with a Standard Cup and unfortunately will not fit a Large Cup because of the way the bracket angles in at the bottom.

Do ALL electrical hair appliances fit in The DAIO™?

The only hair styling appliance we are currently aware of that doesn’t fit in either Cup is the BaByliss Curl Secret. It will fit in handle first, but not hot plate first.

Hairdryers we can be less certain, but we believe most should. Although these do not have the same safety handling issues as hair straighteners, irons and tongs, we understand that many people put them in their DAIO to keep everything neat and tidy.

How easy is it to remove the silicone cups?

The silicone cups are designed to be removable for a number of reasons, but of course not too easily.

Firstly so that the Standard & Large Cups can be swapped over in the main body (chassis) of the DAIO Original and PRO models, if it suits the owner better. They are interchangeable.

Secondly so they can be used to protect your hair appliances if you want to take them out of the house for a short while – maybe to the gym or a weekend away? And thirdly so they can be cleaned more easily, in warm soapy water.

To remove, pull down at an angle rather than straight down as this makes it easier.

Of course it is important that they can’t be removed too easily – ie by a small child – and so have a quite deep seated lip and rim which holds it firmly in place on the main DAIO chassis.  Also it is held even more securely when there are straighteners in the cup because they make sure the cup fits even more tightly to the chassis.

How easy is it to clean The DAIO?

The main body (chassis) of all DAIO models and the silicone cups can be washed in warm soapy water. They  can then be rinsed off with clean warm water and left to dry. The same can happen with the silicone safety bar on the DAIO Original model, but for the metal bracket itself it’s best that it is wiped down with a clean damp cloth and then dried.

To remove the cups for cleaning simply pull down and at a slight angle, as this makes it easier to get them out.

When fitting the cups back into the DAIO chassis, make sure the rim of the cups is pressed down firmly in place all the way round so they fit back in securely.
